Holiday Australia: The All Australian Hollday Company

Holiday Australia - The Australian Travel Company: Australia Holiday Types: Our Top 5 Holidays: SYDNEY, ROCK & REEF

The Australian Travel Company is a travel business that specialises in tailor made Australian Holidays. In most cases the holiday itineraries we craft for our clients are unique to each client and ARE never the same.

The itinerary below is an example of what we consider is a suggestion for a well balanced 'core' itinerary for first time visitors to Australia. Australia is a big - make that a HUGE country, and it would take many many visits to even start to get familiar with all that it has to offer. Our experience has shown us that everyone has different expectations of what is required in the way of accommodation standards and inclusions, touring, transfers, dining and sightseeing to name a few. We take immense pride in our Australian heritage and our product knowledge to build your perfect holiday itinerary for Australia.

Our iconic triple destination Sydney Rock and Reef Australia Holiday Itinerary features - of course - the amazing, vibrant, breathtaking scenic cosmopolitan city of Sydney - voted the worlds best city three years in a row. From here you then fly direct to Uluru (Ayers Rock) via a 3 1/2 hour direct flight. The next 2 days are spent visiting this amazing world heritage icon: Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta, formerly called "the Olgas" in the nearby Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.

From here we then embark on our tropical odyssey to Cairns and Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland via a 2 day stay in Brisbane, capital city of Queensland. You will have the best part of a day and a half at leisure here to explore Brisbane and all it has to offer: a buzzing cosmopolitan downtown area, great shopping, and if time permits the playgrounds of Australia's chic holiday crowd at the nearby Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast - or a day trip out to Tangalooma Island Resort in Brisbane's Moreton Bay for a great day out and to learn all about the wild dolphins at the resort. Leaving Brisbane you then fly to Cairns and transfer to to the beautiful laid back Great Barrier Reef village of Port Douglas for the remainder of your itinerary.

Note: This itinerary is provided as a guide: we can substitute/change this itinerary to include different destinations, resorts, accommodation options and tour(s), rental car, 4WD or campervan - we have literally thousands of options to chose from... so - PLEASE ASK US!

ITINERARY: SYDNEY, ROCK AND REEF
Days 1 to 6: Sydney (5 nights)
Arrival in Sydney. Wow! Our home town(!) Sydney is everything that you have heard - or read - or imagined it is! Amazing, beautiful, stunning - superlatives just keep coming - and coming - with this wonderful city, ranked 3 consecutive times as the worlds best city.

During your stay here there is literally hundreds of amazing choices of experiences to do... incredible beaches, great *weather (*in spring and summer - it can get quite cold in winter! ) amazing fashion and shopping, superb dining & restaurants, hip night-clubs for the nighthawks, world class arts and theatre,  fantastic sightseeing, the Harbour, the Rocks, the Bridge, the Opera House, the Botanical Gardens (a must!) fish and chips on a sunny afternoon on the Manly Ferry from Circular Quay to Manly, beautiful iron latticed town houses in 'Paddo' (Paddington), a harbour sailing trip, a day trip out on the stunning Hawkesbury River (and maybe hire a cruiser for the day?) or climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge - or take the Centrepoint Skywalk, (superb of a night!) - and don't forget a day trip out out to the Blue Mountains... simply amazing!

Whatever you chose to do - we can arrange it for you - that way minimising the 'hit' to your wallet and maximising your spending ability! And of course - last but not least - our famous Aussie hospitality as this confident, vibrant and cosmopolitan city takes it all in its stride - and so it should - as the host city of the most successful Olympic Games ever held - it has earned the right to be OTT - but in a VERY good way!

You’ll stay at the wonderfully located 4 star Holiday Inn Old Sydney in the centre of the famous Rocks area, 2 minutes to the harbour and Circular Quay and close to the nearby Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Extensive accommodation choices are also available for many other Sydney hotels and apartments, as well as extremely well priced upgrade options to superb 5 star plus hotels such as the harbourside Park Hyatt and the Sydney Intercontinental Hotel.

Days 6 and 7: Uluru (Ayers Rock) (2 nights)
Today you depart Sydney for your 3 1/2 hour direct flight to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and transfer to your superb 5 star accommodation for the next 2 nights - the multi award winning 'Sails in the Desert' Hotel. Included in your cost is all touring to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and Kata Tjuta, ("the Olgas") in nearby Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. An optional extra which we highly recommend that you avail yourself of is the absolutely breathtaking 'Sounds of Silence' BBQ Aussie dinner under a magnificent star studded desert night sky. Optional 3 and 4 star accommodation can be substituted in place of 'Sails in the Desert' but we strongly recommend 'Sails' as your base for the 'once in lifetime' experience that is Uluru and the Olgas.

Days 8 and 9: Brisbane (2 nights)
Today depart Ayers Rock for Brisbane and 2 nights stay in the wonderful tropical city of Brisbane. Brisbane is a buzzy modern city - and compared to 10 years ago has now really come of age as a sleek, modern and exciting city that boasts a wonderful climate, exciting shopping and nightlife including world class casinos, beautiful gardens, world class arts and theatre, and laid back, warm hearted local 'Brisbanite' Aussies!

Accommodation is at the world class 4 star Novotel Brisbane. As with any of our itineraries we can substitute this accommodation for either more budget minded or more upmarket accommodation options, or may we even suggest that you might like to bypass Brisbane and spend your time instead at the nearby world class resort town of Noosa on the Sunshine Coast, some 60 miles away from Brisbane - and if not to stay - it's worth a day trip by rental car! (We can also substitute a 1 night stay instead of 2 nights in Brisbane, however this city is definitely worth 2 nights stay - if you have the time!)

Days 10 to 14: Port Douglas (5 nights)
Today off on the last leg of our trip  - but in our opinion - (but we're biased!) the best part of the trip - the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef and the million years old Daintree Rainforest. On arrival at Cairns Airport you have a private vehicle transfer to Port Douglas, 70 miles further up the coast. This stunning scenic journey along the Cook Highway takes you out along the beach suburbs of Cairns and past beautiful Palm Cove, hugging the sparkling Coral Sea. On arrival at Port Douglas - it's relax and unwind time!

We have chosen Port Douglas as your base for this part of your itinerary primarily because we consider it to be the premier destination for the Great Barrier Reef region, as well as being the closest town to the Great Barrier Reef, some 30 miles offshore. Port Douglas - or as the locals call it: 'Port' is simply a gem of a holiday location.

Chosen by President Clinton in 1966 as the only vacation destination in Australia for their holiday, 'Port' caters equally for the world's rich and famous as well as hundreds of thousands of tourist from around the world. It has also been the location for many top movies and TV series with locals frequently rubbing shoulders with some of the most famous actors in the world. But in Port - that's normal! No one is fussed - and that's what makes it so special! Your time here is your own - or to save costs (!) and increase your spending budget (!)  we can help you plan a multitude of tours and cruises (or diving if that’s your thing!) to suit any needs.

'Port' is superbly located to visit the Great Barrier Reef with a multitude of day trips to chose from with all sizes of boats. Visiting the Great Barrier Reef is obviously a 'must do' and top of most people's 'bucket list' (!) as is a day trip up into the nearby Daintree Rainforest. Whilst in Port we strongly recommend you grab a rental car (or 4WD if your adventurous and love 4WD driving!) for a couple of days to explore the surrounding country as well, its magnificent and there are an AWFUL lot of things to see and do! Reef, Rainforest and Outback - at its best! Accommodation is at Port Douglas newest 5 star luxury resort: the Sea Temple Resort and Spa

Port Douglas is as amazing and wonderful as we make it out to be. You see, this was our home for nearly 9 years.. and I guess you can say it is our global spiritual home...:-)  As with any of our suggested itineraries we also have an extensive range of accommodation options to chose from in Port and nearby - from exclusive spas and rainforest retreats, private luxury houses, luxury 5 star hotels or self catering apartments (very popular) and much more.

Overall, Queensland has a truly amazing array of holiday choices as well to fit into your itinerary - in particular we suggest a stay on a Great Barrier Reef Island Resort - exclusive beautiful Lizard Island, multi-award winning Hayman Island Resort or the fabulous Qualia Resort in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands, famous Heron Island, or world heritage listed Fraser Island - the largest of its kind in the world. It’s simple. Contact us or CALL US us for a chat to plan YOUR itinerary - tailored to YOUR own requirements.
